The Lillach is a small creek passing through Weißenohe in the District of Forchheim. Close to the source there are some sinter terraces, terrace like basins formed by calcifications.
These steps were created during the last ice age, some 10000 years ago and still grow each year by 1-3 mm. The valley is a natural reserve and famous for it’s variety of species. Just butterflies are present in 120 different species there.
