In the north of Bruxelles the railway museum of Schaerbeek is located. The museum is situated in an old train station with beautiful architecture, extended by a modern hall which contains the largest part of the train collections.
Belgian railways have an interesting pool of rolling stock, with the streamlined express steam engine 12004 as a very nice example of well made design. Also on exhibition are compartments of the orient express, which was created by the son of a belgian banker. Belgium is an important railway nation, due to the central location in europe and the access to the north sea ports and the ferries to the UK.
