Day three in Sweden brought us to the Vasa museum. The Vasa was the biggest ship of the swedish marine, built to impress and to dominate the baltic sea during the 30 years war.
It survived an impressive 30 minutes into its maiden voyage and then sank after the wind blew it a little too far over and the cannon ports landed below the waterline. It sank immedeately. Not only does it serve as a poster story for failed project management, it’s also the best preserved ship from the 17th century. The museum is very well done and is a must see.
