January 2022 I was able to participate in the transfer of a “Flying Train” of the “Köln” class from Munich to Delitzsch. This flying train is in the ownership of the “Förderverein Schnelltriebwagen e.V.” and will be brought back to operating conditions in Delitzsch.
The transfer took two days and lead from Munich via the Altmühl valley and many other small branch lines via Bamberg and the Saale valley to Delitzsch near Leipzig. The train was coupled between two adapter cars and a few brake cars to a locomotive from Rail Adventure, who was responsible for the whole transfer. We needed to check at each halt and during the ride that everything was technically OK and there were no bearings running hot.
